In 2014, the Glenstone Foundation, Inc. awarded a $200 million construction management contract to Hitt Contracting, Inc. to build a major expansion of the Glenstone Museum in Potomac, Maryland. Glenstone is one of the premier private museums in the world, focusing its collection on modern art. On August 30, 2018, the contractor sued the foundation in the US District Court in Greenbelt for $24 million, blaming the foundation for millions of dollars in alleged cost overruns to complete the expansion.

Litigation partner S. Scott Morrison said Hitt's lawsuit is meritless and that the foundation plans to file a counterclaim that will set the record straight. "Hitt was retained to build one of the most iconic private art museums in the world," Scott said. "They promised that they would have their best management and field personnel to build this project. Instead, they delivered the project 10 months late and millions of dollars over budget."
