Presented by Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP and Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) South Central Texas Chapter's Oil & Gas Law Practice Group
Seminar | November 10, 2016

Mark Farley, co-head of Katten's Environmental and Workplace Safety Practice, and Nadira Clarke, Environmental and Workplace Safety Practice partner, will co-present "Responding to a Workplace Safety Incident: Private Sector Perspectives on a Changed Landscape After the New Enforcement Initiative" program on Thursday, November 10 at 11:30 a.m. The presentation will discuss the Worker Endangerment Initiative, announced by Deputy Attorney General Yates in December 2015, and efforts to aggressively investigate and prosecute worker endangerment violations. This panel of experienced practitioners will provide insight into how to properly prepare for—and effectively manage—the unexpected when it comes to workplace safety, including:

  • Following a major incident that may involve significant injuries or fatalities, as well as environmental and community impacts—how should businesses and their counsel approach the immediate aftermath?
  • Understand the challenges associated with worker endangerment cases today, including the increased risk of stiffer penalties for OSHA violations; the new focus on broader, multidisciplinary investigations; and coordinated criminal enforcement actions.
  • Learn about the important role of effective compliance plans, including enhanced safety policies, training and other compliance measures.
