Partner Mark Farley Discusses Safety in Oil and Gas Industries with Bauer Business Focus

Firm News | August 30, 2013

Mark Farley, managing partner of Katten’s Texas offices, co-head of the Environmental practice and head of the Workplace Safety practice, spoke with Andrew Schneider of KUHF Houston Public Radio’s Bauer Business Focus on workplace deaths in the oil and gas industries. The Bureau of Labor Statistics recently released its annual census of fatal workplace injuries, revealing that last year, deaths in the oil and gas extraction industries hit their highest level since the bureau began keeping records in 1992. Mark explains that companies are trying to make the workplace safer: “There’s a tremendous amount of focus in the industry on this topic, both independently by companies and in coordination with agencies like OSHA. Certainly they’re looking very hard at their worker health and safety training programs; they’re stepping up their programs for contractor oversight.” (“Bauer Business Focus: Mark Farley on Workplace Safety in Oil and Gas Industry,” August 30, 2013)
