OSHA Issues Request for Information on Modernizing LOTO Standard

In May, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration ("OSHA") issued a Request for Information ("RFI") on modernizing the control of hazardous energy (Lockout/Tagout or "LOTO") standard. The RFI requests comments on two topics: control circuit type devices and robotics. OSHA is seeking comment on these topics to understand whether advancements in technology since the standard was first adopted in 1989 could lead to better protecting worker safety without imposing additional burdens on employers.
