Health Care Partner Michael Callahan will present two programs during the MAMSS 34th Annual Education Conference.
Michael will present "Legal Update: Legal Developments Affecting Medical Staff Professionals" session on Monday, October 23 at 10:00 a.m. This session will review the major case law and other legal issues that have developed over the past year and discuss how they impact the responsibilities of medical services professionals. It also will identify various lessons learned and provide practical advice and suggested best practices in the areas of bylaws, privileging, credentialing, immunity, and privilege protections and regulatory compliance.
The second session Michael will present is "Do Your Medical Staff Bylaws Help or Hurt You? Compliance Gaps and Best Practices" on Monday, October 23 at 2:45 p.m. This session will identify the most common areas of "compliance gaps" in Medical Staff Bylaws, which, if not corrected, could result in accreditation and licensure problems as well as increase a hospital's legal liability. He also will review best practices and example bylaw provisions.
