Katten's Mergers and Acquisitions practice encompasses all aspects of public and private M&A work, handling billions of dollars in business combinations each year. We provide cost-effective representation in challenging, sophisticated and transformative transactions spanning from early stage capital raising to formation and negotiation of joint ventures to large, complex divestitures.

Our attorneys offer particular strength in leveraged buyouts, management buyouts, going private transactions, proxy contests, spin-offs, tender offers and restructurings. Clients also benefit from our experience in all aspects of takeovers, both friendly and hostile, including designing and implementing defensive controls.

As a result of the firm's strong international capabilities, we represent both foreign and domestic clients in complex cross-border transactions. Our US M&A group coordinates with colleagues from our London and Shanghai teams to provide seamless client service. We have also represented our US clients in connection with numerous transactions in Canada, and often represent Canadian clients in US securities offerings and M&A transactions.
