Mark Goldstein Comments on Self-Reporting for Hedge Funds

Mark Goldstein, Financial Services special counsel, was quoted by HFMCompliance in an article highlighting the pros and cons hedge funds managers need to weigh before determining whether or not to self-report a legal or compliance violation. Mark stated that self-reporting is not without risk and also discussed the need to consider whether or not there may be a legal obligation to self-report hedge fund managers also will need to consider materiality when deciding to notify investors. Mark stated, "You want to disclose to your investors and service providers and anyone else who was impacted by the issue as to what happened and what you did to remediate the issue and make sure it doesn't happen again."
