Lily Chinn Featured in Legaltech News Article on the Role of eDiscovery in Government Investigations

Firm News | June 9, 2017

Lily Chinn, San Francisco Bay Area office managing partner and co-chair of the Electronic Discovery and Information Governance practice, was featured in Legaltech News regarding the use and role of e-discovery in government investigations. Lily stated, "I think the first thing that a company needs to do is ask, does the [investigating] agency issuing the request have specific published expectations about how e-discovery should be collected, produced and processed." Given that there are often multiple government agencies with disparate guidelines, a company faces both challenges in implementation and opportunities to work with government attorneys. Lily also emphasized that regular and open communications about eDiscovery issues with the government can provide important information to a company about the scope of the government's investigation as well as "foster [a good] relationship with investigators."
