Katten's Annual Financial Services Litigation Symposium

Katten will host the firm’s annual Financial Services Litigation Symposium at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 26. Notable participants will include James McDonald, the director of the Division of Enforcement at the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission, and Steven Schwartz, the executive director and global head of enforcement of CME Group. Katten speakers include Gary DeWaal, special counsel in the Financial Services practice; Christian Kemnitz, co-head of the Financial Services Litigation practice; Janet Angstadt, head of the Chicago Financial Services practice; Richard Marshall, partner in the Financial Services practice; David Goldberg and Peter Wilson, partners in the Financial Services Litigation practice; and Becky Lindahl, partner in the Litigation practice.

The symposium will address the following topics:

  • Futures Regulatory Enforcement: evolving civil and regulatory exposure for manipulation, spoofing and disruptive trading; shifting enforcement strategies and priorities; and off-exchange trading;
  • Securities Regulation: impact of SEC recovery limitations; developments in asset manager regulation; options regulation and enforcement; and emerging enforcement priorities; and
  • Litigation Update; strategic issues at the outside of financial services litigation, including threshold questions of jurisdiction, disclosure obligations and other emerging trends.
