In the firm's continuing effort to foster the leadership of diverse attorneys within the firm and in the broader legal community, Katten recently hosted its 2018 Diverse Attorney Leadership Summit in Chicago.

Led by Katten's chief diversity partner Leslie Minier, the Summit covered a wide array of topics vital to the professional development of the firm's diverse attorneys at all levels—from office managing partners to associate leadership. This included a "fireside chat" with former Katten partner and current chief legal officer of the Golden State Warriors David Kelly. It also featured sessions on uncovering the client service skills for diverse partners in the marketplace; exploring what the firm's best outside counsel do to add value; understanding the fundamentals of effective team dynamics; as well as brief conversations on being a minority attorney in a majority law firm and defining how authenticity is an integral key to success.

The Summit concluded with a service project aimed at giving back to local schools through the offering of advice on resume building, interview skills and best practices for college applications to Chicago high school seniors at Rowe-Clark Math & Science Academy in the East Garfield Park neighborhood.
