(NEW YORK) Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP announced today that its chief executive officer, Noah Heller, was named among the 2014 Crain’s New York Business 40 Under 40, a well-regarded list that annually honors 40 of the most talented and accomplished young leaders across numerous industries in New York.
“This is an extraordinary honor. Being named alongside these outstanding professionals is not only a great tribute to Noah’s success as an attorney and leader in the firm, but high-profile acknowledgement of Katten’s widening success,” said Katten Chairman Vincent A.F. Sergi.
The Crain’s profile points out that those who have worked with Heller prize his “keen understanding of people’s motivations” and his “deft business acumen.”
“He puts himself in our shoes and knows what I’m trying to accomplish,” said Carlyle Group Global Market Strategies Chief Operating Officer Ian Sandler, who was one of Heller’s private equity clients.
Named Katten CEO in June 2013, Heller formerly headed the firm’s New York Corporate practice. Prior to that, he built and significantly grew the firm’s Distressed Claims practice, a high-stakes area of law that required him to guide thousands of transactions resulting in the transfer of hundreds of billions of dollars in bank loans and bankruptcy claims involving Lehman Brothers, MF Global and American Airlines, to name a few. He was at the time one of only a handful of big law firm attorneys focusing on bank loans and claims trading related to domestic and international companies experiencing financial distress.
Before going into private practice, Heller was a staff attorney at the Division of Enforcement of the US Securities and Exchange Commission. He received his JD from the Fordham University School of Law and his BA from the University of Michigan.
For 26 years, Crain’s New York Business has published its 40 Under 40 list, which involves researching hundreds of nominations submitted annually from a variety of industries.
Past 40 Under 40 lists have included such widely known professionals as MSNBC talk show host Rachel Maddow, New York Times DealBook editor Andrew Ross Sorkin and New York Knicks forward Amar’e Stoudemire.
