Katten Adds Partner Michael S. McBride to Real Estate Practice in New York

Firm News | September 9, 2013

(NEW YORK) Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP today announced that real estate attorney Michael S. McBride has joined the firm as partner in its New York office. McBride has 25 years of experience in the industry and formerly was with Strategic Asset Services of H/2 Capital Partners, a leading commercial real estate credit fund manager, where he was head of the legal group that served the affiliated group companies.

"Mike will be a great addition to our real estate team in New York, and his background and experience in real estate finance as well as his client perspective will lend itself well to our growing practice," said Vincent A. F. Sergi, Katten Chairman.

Prior to his work with H/2 Capital Partners, McBride served as US general counsel and managing director at the Hypo Real Estate Group, whose national operations included Hypo Real Estate Capital Corporation (a multibillion-dollar US commercial real estate loan origination, syndication and securitization platform), the New York branch of Depfa Bank plc (a leading infrastructure and public finance specialist bank), Depfa First Albany Securities LLC (a municipal bond/public finance broker dealer) and Quadra Realty Trust, a NYSE-listed mortgage REIT. McBride began his career in the real estate group of Shearman & Sterling.

"The combination of Mike's significant experience with large loan origination, syndication and securitization, with real estate capital markets, with real estate vehicles (and vehicle funding) and with applicable regulatory frameworks will be a great asset to our clients," noted Tim Little, co-head of Katten's New York Real Estate practice.

McBride's experience spans a range of commercial real estate practice areas, including finance, capital markets, REITs, private funds, acquisitions and dispositions, distressed property and leasing, as well as the regulatory framework applicable to commercial real estate vehicles and commercial real estate lending. He has particularly extensive experience in the origination, syndication, securitization, servicing and workout of large commercial real estate loans, encompassing many asset classes and debt structures and involving nationally and internationally known developers, investors and assets. McBride also has experience in structured finance, infrastructure finance, asset finance and public finance.

McBride earned his JD from Columbia University Law School, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar, and his AB, magna cum laude, from Princeton University.
