John K. Whitaker

John Whitaker focuses his practice on complex litigation. He has experience in a broad range of areas, including loan defaults, contract disputes, real estate, torts and intellectual property. John has represented clients in both federal and state court as well as mediation. Additionally, John served for two years as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Joan H. Lefkow of the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

Prior to entering the practice of law, John ran a citizenship program for refugee resettlement and family reunification issues in Louisville, Kentucky. From 2007–2009, John served as a language educator and media liaison for Centro de Estudios Norteamericano in Valencia, Spain. While in law school, John served as managing notes editor for the Michigan Journal of International Law. He is also an experienced songwriter and musician with an interest in intellectual property as it applies to the arts.
