House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Urges Removal of Three Top CSB Officials

Prepared for the Katten Safety Advisory Group
Advisory | March 20, 2015

This past Wednesday, a bipartisan group of fourteen members of the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Oversight and Government Reform sent a strongly worded letter to the President requesting the removal of three individuals from the U.S. Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board ("CSB"), which includes Rafael Moure-Eraso, the current Chairman of the CSB, CSB General Counsel Richard Loeb, and Managing Director Daniel Horowitz. According to the letter, after holding several hearings (See KSAG Alert 2015-7), reviewing thousands of documents, and interviewing current and former CSB employees, the Committee has concluded that "the CSB is in a state of turmoil," and the "CSB seems to be in worse condition than ever before."
