Eric Seitz focuses his practice on financial restructuring matters, serving clients in a wide variety of industries and disciplines. With more than 10 years' experience, he is well-versed in representing official and ad hoc committees, debtors and trustees in complex Chapter 11 cases. Secured lenders turn to Eric for restructuring counsel in both in- and out-of-court workouts, as well as advice related to substantive consolidation and re-characterization issues raised in structured financings. Eric also represents creditors in defense of Chapter 5 avoidance actions, and he has particular experience advising mortgage servicers in a variety of restructuring scenarios.

While in law school, Eric served as associate managing editor of the SMU Law Review and the Journal of Air Law and Commerce.

    • Representation of leading special servicer of commercial loans with respect to workouts and single-asset bankruptcies across the country.
    • Counsel to the official committee of retirees of a Dallas-based independent crude oil and natural gas exploration/production company.
    • Representation of buyer of substantially all assets of Houston-based seismic data and engineering firm through section 363 sale.
    • Defense of Chapter 5 avoidance actions raised against leading private-label credit card provider.
    • Counsel to the senior secured lender for a leading provider and publisher of professional and business information services.
    • Advice to board of directors in Chapter 11 reorganization of industrial and consumer battery manufacturer.
    • Representation of the official committee of unsecured creditors in the Chapter 11 proceedings of a commercial real estate investment company.
    • Representation of a debtor off-shore drilling rig/vessel manufacturer.
    • Debtor's counsel in the Chapter 11 reorganization of a Houston-based independent energy company.
    • Representation of the official committee of unsecured creditors of an independent natural gas/crude oil exploration and production company.
    • Post-confirmation liquidation trustee’s counsel in the reorganization of an international printing company.
    • Representation of certain Ohio public utility companies with respect to sale to bond issuers of certain phase-in recovery property.
    • Advice to secured lender in commercial real estate bankruptcy involving Los Angeles-based medical facility.
