Colorado's Comprehensive New Regulatory Requirements for Oil and Gas Flow Lines, Issued in Wake of Firestone Explosion, Go into Effect on May 1, 2018

In the aftermath of a gas line explosion last year that killed two in Firestone, Colorado, the state responded with a series of proposed changes to its safety rules and practices governing gas wells and pipelines. Beyond enhancing the state's gas pipeline reporting number, 8-1-1, the key component of Colorado's response was comprehensive changes to the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission's (COGCC) "flowline" regulations.
