ACTEC 2019 Mid-Atlantic Regional Meeting

Ronni Davidowitz, head of the firm's New York Trusts and Estates practice and ACTEC state chair for Downstate New York, will coordinate and host in New York City the ACTEC 2019 Mid-Atlantic Regional Meeting, which brings together ACTEC fellows primarily from the Mid-Atlantic member states and sponsors from all over for CLE programs, discussions and business and social networking, on September 13–15. In addition, she will participate in the State Chairs Roundtable at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, September 13 to join in a discussion comparing the Mid-Atlantic states gift and estate tax regimes and income tax treatment of trusts. This roundtable will follow an earlier state chairs' roundtable discussion comparing the key aspects of estate settlement of the Mid-Atlantic member states as part of the inaugural Mid-Atlantic First Institute aimed at identifying and educating prospective candidates to ACTEC.

Joshua Rubenstein, national head of the firm's Trusts and Estates practice, will also participate in the event, speaking on "The Taxman Cometh: Settling Tax Controversies and Using Taxes to Settle Other Disputes" panel at 8:15 a.m. on Sunday, September 15. The panel will discuss the opportunities to settle estate and gift tax controversies in the exam, appeals and litigation phases of a tax controversy, as well as opportunities to use taxes creatively to settle other common trusts and estates litigations.
