Overview

Richard L. Farley serves as deputy counsel to the firm and is the former head of Katten's Charlotte Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice. He concentrates his practice on general civil litigation and dispute resolution with additional focuses on construction, insurance, employment, trade secrets, trademarks and land use.

Richard helps businesses and their owners in a wide variety of industries solve the problems, disputes and controversies that affect their bottom line. His litigation experience includes mortgage and real estate fraud and loss mitigation; securities fraud; director and fiduciary liability; derivative and shareholder disputes; employment and non-competition covenants; trade secrets; wills and trusts, trademarks; insurance; bad faith and extra-contractual liability; construction, zoning and restrictive covenants; and general business and contractual litigation.

He also counsels on construction and commercial foreclosure matters and provides a full range of services to the motorsports industry, including drivers, teams, sponsors and suppliers. In addition, he provides regulatory advice and counseling to mortgage and mortgage insurance companies and contract and license negotiation and drafting to a variety of industries.

Richard began his career working at a small general practice firm, representing local businesses and their entrepreneur owners for more than ten years, where he participated in every area of practice and business. He continues to maintain that personal touch in his practice.
