Partner Michael Callahan Quoted in American Medical News on Economic Credentialing Ruling

Firm News | March 16, 2009
Michael Callahan, a partner in the firm’s Health Care Practice, was quoted in American Medical News on a recent case in which a county court in Arkansas ruled that a hospital system’s economic conflict-of-interest policy intruded on the patient-physician relationship and violated public policy. Commenting on the results of the case, Mr. Callahan says, “Clearly, there are a lot of lessons learned from this decision, and hospitals need to be mindful and do their homework when pursuing such a policy. But it will play differently in different circumstances,” depending on the size of the region and the state’s credentialing laws.
