Partner Joshua Rubenstein Quoted in Wall Street Journal on Power of Attorney

Joshua Rubenstein, Chair of the firm’s Trusts and Estates Practice, was quoted in an article in the Wall Street Journal on the proper procedures for executing authority as power of attorney. In the article, Mr. Rubenstein advises to discuss the rules with a person of authority at the specific bank or financial institution, since many procedures vary from state to state. He notes that the usual procedure for signing a check on someone else’s behalf is to sign their name on the top line and your own name underneath as power of attorney.
