Firm News | February 2011
In two of the largest recent Chicago real estate transactions, the firm’s Real Estate Practice represented real estate company Tishman Speyer and Pritzker Realty Group in separate sales of large Chicago office towers.

Katten attorneys Nina Sitzer, Alvin Katz, Ira Swidler, Doug Noren and Ron Alkalay represented Tishman Speyer in its purchase of 353 North Clark Street from an affiliate of financial services firm Mesirow Financial. Designed by noted Chicago architect Dirk Lohan of Lohan Anderson, the 45-story, 1.17 million square foot office building opened in 2009. Housing the headquarters of Mesirow Financial and Jenner & Block LLP, the building received a LEED CS-Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.

Katten attorneys Seth Madorsky, David Cohen, Ron Alkalay, Nyshel Burke and Cara Hanson represented Pritzker Realty Group in the sale of the Hyatt Center, located at 71 South Wacker Drive, to real estate investment firm The Irvine Company. The 48-story, 1.5 million square foot office building was designed by Henry Cobb of Pei Cobb Freed & Partners and was completed in 2005. It has won numerous design awards for its distinctive elliptical design and has received a LEED Platinum certification—the first of its kind for an existing building—from the U.S. Green Building Council. Tenants include Hyatt Corporation, Mayer Brown LLP, RBS and IBM.
