Katten Names Carol Johnston Co-Chair of Los Angeles Trusts and Estates Practice

LOS ANGELES – Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP is pleased to announce that it has named Carol A. Johnston as co-chair of its Los Angeles Trusts and Estates Practice. Ms. Johnston joins current practice co-chair Abby L.T. Feinman in this position. Ms. Johnston has been a partner with the firm for two years, while Ms. Feinman has spent the last 12 years at Katten, including the last five as a partner.

Rubenstein, chair of Katten’s 50-lawyer national Trusts and Estates Practice. “Both of these women are exceptional attorneys who have consistently gone above and beyond to provide the first-class client service to which our clients are accustomed. I look forward to their leadership as we continue the strategic growth of our L.A. Trusts and Estates Practice.”

Ms. Johnston concentrates her practice in estate and tax planning for high net worth individuals, and the representation of fiduciaries in estate and trust administration. Ms. Johnston’s planning experience includes revocable trusts, gift and insurance trusts, and sophisticated transfer tax techniques. Ms Johnston also advises on charitable giving and represents nonprofit charitable organizations.

Ms. Johnston is a member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association, Probate and Trust Law Section. She received her B.A. from Middlebury College and her J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School. She is a certified specialist in Estate Planning, Trust & Probate Law (State Bar of California), and a 2008 lecturer for the USC Tax Institute and the UCLA/CEB Estate Planning Institute.

Ms. Feinman’s broad and dynamic practice centers around sophisticated tax planning for individuals, charitable planning, post-death administration and controversies concerning trusts and estates. Her clients include wealthy individuals, families with bicoastal connections, real estate entrepreneurs, business owners, corporate and individual fiduciaries, individuals with family members having special needs and private foundations.

Ms. Feinman practices law in California, Florida, New York and Connecticut and is active in various bar associations in those locations. She chairs the Trusts and Estates Section of the Century City Bar Association and is proud to serve as a member of the Board of Governors for Cedars-Sinai Medical Center where she co-chairs the Young Governors section and sits on its executive committee. As a co-chair of the firm’s Los Angeles office’s Women’s Leadership Forum, she connects professional women in the community as well as works to improve the retention and promotion of women in the legal profession. She continues to be listed as a Southern California Super Lawyer in Estate Planning and Trusts in Los Angeles Magazine and Southern California Super Lawyers Magazine (2006-2008). Her undergraduate degree was obtained at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and she earned a J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law.
