Katten Lands 12 Practices and 24 Attorneys in Chambers USA Guide

CHICAGO - Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP is pleased to announce that 12 of its practices rank among the top in the 2006 edition of the Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business and 24 of its attorneys are recommended as leaders in their respective fields, with one attorney, Laura Keidan Martin, securing a spot within two practice areas - Healthcare and Antitrust. Additionally, the Firm’s Chicago Real Estate Practice received Chambers’ highest ranking among law firms in Illinois for the fourth year in a row.

David J. Bryant is a partner and Co-Chair of the Firm’s Real Estate Practice. He focuses on commercial real estate and has substantial experience in acquisitions, dispositions and investments in real estate assets, real estate development, real estate finance, joint venture and partnership formation and financing.

Kenneth M. Jacobson is a partner in the Firm’s Real Estate Finance Practice. He concentrates on commercial real estate finance and investment in real estate and real-estate related companies, investment trusts, real estate opportunity funds, commercial banks, insurance companies, finance companies and other lenders, and developers and other borrowers.

Daniel J. Perlman is a partner in the Firm’s Real Estate Practice. He concentrates primarily in the areas of fund and venture formation, conventional, securitized and mezzanine financing, commercial development and commercial acquisitions and dispositions.

Mark C. Simon is a partner in the Firm’s Real Estate Practice. He represents banks, insurance companies and pension fund advisors making loans and other real estate investments. Marcia W. Sullivan is a partner in the Firm’s Real Estate Finance Practice. She concentrates her practice on commercial real estate finance for commercial banks, insurance companies, finance companies and other lenders and has been involved in complex financing for large-scale projects across the nation.

Sheldon I. Banoff is a partner in the Firm’s Tax Planning and Litigation Practice. His practice has focused on federal income taxation for over 30 years, with particular concentration in real estate investment, partnership and limited liability company taxation matters.

Reid A. Mandel is a partner in the Firm’s Tax Planning and Litigation Practice. His practice focuses on asset securitization and income taxation and represents sellers, issuers, investors, investment bankers, trustees and credit enhancers in offerings of interests in pools of receivables aggregating over $32 billion in principal amount.

HEALTH CARE:

Michael R. Callahan (Chicago) is a partner in the Firm’s Health Care Practice. His practice focuses on health care antitrust, health care and HIPAA regulatory compliance, medical staff credentialing, hospital/medical staff relations, and mergers and acquisitions.

Laura Keidan Martin (Chicago) is a partner in the Firm’s Health Care Practice. Her broad-based health care practice includes mergers and acquisitions, physician integration strategies, provider joint ventures and regulatory compliance.

Peter F. Nadel (in New York) is a partner in the Firm’s Health Care Practice. He concentrates his practice on health care matters, representing providers in both transactional and contested matters. He has negotiated dozens of contracts, each in excess of $100 million, and has recovered more than $1 billion in reimbursement litigations for clients in New York and nationally.

BANKING & FINANCE (all in Chicago):

Michael A. Jacobson is a partner in the Firm’s Commercial Finance Practice. His practice concentrates on a wide variety of areas of corporate finance, including both senior and mezzanine financing. His experience includes borrower, senior lender and mezzanine investor representation, cash flow and asset-based transactions, leveraged buyouts and build-ups, restructurings and workouts, negotiating intercreditor and subordination related issues, equity co-investments and healthcare finance transactions.

Stuart P. Shulruff is a partner and Chair of the Firm’s Commercial Finance Practice. He concentrates his practice in all aspects of corporate finance, including senior financing, mezzanine financing and equity co-investments, for a wide variety of institutional and entrepreneurial finance clients.

Floyd A. Mandell is a partner and Co-Chair of the Firm’s Intellectual Property Practice. He concentrates his practice, primarily in the areas of intellectual property counseling and litigation.

Timothy J. Vezeau is a partner in the Firm’s Intellectual Property Practice. He concentrates his practice in intellectual property litigation, licensing and counseling and is a highly experienced, first chair patent litigator who handles high tech patent disputes for clients.

Arthur W. Hahn is a partner and Chair of the Firm’s Financial Services Practice. He represents major international banks and brokerage firms in connection with their cash and derivatives products. He also represents international equity and commodity exchanges and clearing houses, as well as technology companies.

Herbert S. Wander is a partner in the Firm’s Corporate Practice. He concentrates on all aspects of business law, especially corporate governance, securities law and M&A transactions. He has been the chief legal architect for many major M&A transactions, both negotiated and hostile, and in 2004, was appointed co-chair of an advisory committee to the SEC to examine the impact of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act on Smaller Public Companies.

CORPORATE /M&A: PRIVATE EQUITY (all in Chicago):

Kenneth W. Miller is a partner and Co-Chair of the Firm’s Private Equity Practice. His practice focuses on representing venture capital and private equity firms, corporations, pension funds and other private investors in equity and debt financings, leveraged buyouts and other acquisitions, dispositions and recapitalizations.

Walter S. Weinberg is a partner and Co-Chair of the Firm’s Private Equity Practice. He concentrates his practice in the representation of start-ups, middle market and large cap companies, including many companies controlled or sponsored by private equity or venture capital groups, in their equity and debt financings, acquisitions, dispositions and other transactions.

ANTITRUST (in Chicago):

Laura Keidan Martin is a partner in the Firm’s Health Care Practice. Her broad-based health care practice includes mergers and acquisitions, physician integration strategies, provider joint ventures and regulatory compliance.

ENVIRONMENT (in Chicago):

Russell B. Selman is a partner and Chair of the Firm’s Environmental Practice. His practice concentrates in corporate, real estate, and public utility environmental compliance and litigation matters. Serving as counsel to a group of 13 major U.S. corporations, he successfully led negotiations and litigation with the United States Environmental Protection Agency for the cleanup of the largest PCB disposal site in the nation.

ENTERTAINMENT & MEDIA (in Los Angeles):

Gail Migdal Title is a partner and Chair of the Firm's Entertainment and Media Litigation Practice. Ms. Title's practice includes all aspects of the entertainment industry, from motion picture and television development, finance, and production, to distribution in all media worldwide. Her representation covers a broad range of legal and business issues that arise in the entertainment industry, including copyright, trademark, unfair competition, contract and business torts.

Rik Toulon is a partner in the Firm’s Entertainment and Media Practice. Bruce G. Vanyo is a partner and Co-Chair of the Securities Litigation Practice. He has practiced exclusively in the area of securities litigation for more than 30 years and has defended more than 200 major securities cases in 20 states. His practice includes defense of securities actions, defense of derivative litigation, representation before the Securities and Exchange Commission, and representation of board committees in conducting internal investigations.

WEALTH MANAGEMENT (in New York):

Joshua S. Rubenstein is a partner and Chair of the Firm’s Trusts and Estates Practice. He handles a wide variety of private client matters on a local, national, and international level, including personal and estate planning, the administration of estates and trusts, and contested Surrogate’s Court and tax proceedings for high net worth individuals, professionals, entrepreneurs, artists and others with unique intellectual property interests, and is a frequent lecturer and author on these topics.
