Firm News | July 16, 2008

CHICAGO – Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP is pleased to announce that Martin LeFevour has rejoined the firm as a Chicago-based partner in its Intellectual Property Practice. Just prior to rejoining Katten, Mr. LeFevour was Chief Patent Counsel for ev3 Inc., a publicly traded medical device company that is a global leader and best-in-class technology provider for endovascular treatments and diseases, especially in the peripheral vascular and neurovascular areas. Mr. LeFevour’s arrival marks Katten’s second major intellectual property partner hire in recent months. In April, Robert Breisblatt joined the firm as a Chicago-based intellectual property partner.

Mr. LeFevour concentrates his practice on patent litigation, patent portfolio development and management and transactional and technology transfer matters, with particular emphasis in the financial services and medical device industries. He has substantial patent litigation, transactional and patent portfolio development and management experience. In addition to his experience in the medical device field, Mr. LeFevour has significant experience in the financial services arena. He worked extensively with Archipelago/NYSE Arca to develop and implement its patent program, execute the program, develop its patent portfolio and monitor and assess competitor patent activities.

“Our department, as well as partners in other departments who have worked with Marty in the past, are very excited about his return,” said Floyd A. Mandell, National Co-Chair of Katten’s Intellectual Property Practice. “Marty’s recent in-house experience, combined with his considerable legal skill, will make him an excellent asset to our firm and its clients."

Mr. LeFevour earned his B.S. from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and his J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law. Upon graduation from the U.S. Military Academy, Mr. LeFevour served as an officer in the U.S. Army, prior to attending law school.
