Adam Klein, Chair of the firm's Sports Law Practice, and Harris Eisenberg, an associate in the practice, are representing the Detroit Pistons NBA franchise in its sale to California billionaire Tom Gores, a Michigan native, and his private equity firm Platinum Equity. A purchase agreement has been entered into for the sale of the Pistons and a portfolio of assets owned by Palace Sports & Entertainment, which includes the Palace of Auburn Hills; terms of the deal were not disclosed. David Dlugie, Walter Weinberg, Val Famparska and Michael Jacobson have also advised on the transaction.

An Am Law Daily article about the sale notes that "Klein is no stranger to NBA franchise sales, having advised Joe Lacob, managing partner of private equity firm Kleiner Perkins Caulfied & Byers, on his $450 million acquisition of the Golden State Warriors last year."
