California: Cal/OSHA Director Christine Baker Retires

After 34 years at the California Department of Industrial Relations ("DIR"), the last eight as DIR Director, Christine Baker has announced her retirement.

In a statement, Baker acknowledged her most recent work on California's Refinery Process Safety Management ("Refinery CalPSM") Standard, stating"[w]e have overhauled worker safety regulations at refineries to better protect workers and people in nearby communities." Baker further emphasized that she is proud that DIR has "worked with employers and worker advocates to improve the health, safety and economic well-being of Californians."
