Whitney C. Ellerman is head of the Washington, D.C. Litigation and Dispute Resolution Practice and co-head of that office’s White Collar Defense, Internal Investigations and Compliance Practice. Mr. Ellerman’s practice focuses on white collar criminal defense, internal investigations, and related civil and regulatory matters. He has represented Fortune 500 companies, high-ranking public officials and corporate executives throughout the nation in complex criminal cases involving the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, federal environmental statutes including the Clean Water Act and Clean Air Act, fraud and corruption, antitrust, anti-kickback, tax, securities, obstruction of justice and other criminal statutes. Mr. Ellerman also assists clients in designing, customizing and implementing comprehensive compliance programs.

Mr. Ellerman served as an Assistant United States Attorney for the District of Columbia from 1996 through 2000. He is Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Admissions and Grievances for the US Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit and the former Co-Chair of the ABA White Collar Crime Committee’s Subcommittee on Financial Institution Fraud/Money Laundering and Patriot Act. He has served on the editorial advisory boards of Bloomberg BNA’s Criminal Law Reporter and White Collar Law 360. Mr. Ellerman is listed in The Best Lawyers in America in the field of Criminal Defense: White-Collar (2011–2013).

Mr. Ellerman earned his BA from the University of Virginia and his JD from the University of Virginia School of Law, where he was special projects editor of the Virginia Law Review. He is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and Virginia.
