Vincent A.F. Sergi is National Managing Partner of Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP. Based in Katten’s Chicago office, Mr. Sergi drives the strategic direction of the firm and directs the partnership’s daily operations. He is also a member of the firm’s Board of Directors and Executive and Operating Committee, and Chairman of the firm’s Compensation Committee.
A member of Katten’s first associate class, Mr. Sergi joined the firm in 1974. After serving as a Chair of the firm’s Commercial Finance Department, he was elected as Katten’s National Managing Partner in 1995. During Mr. Sergi’s tenure, the firm has grown dramatically through mergers, lateral acquisitions and foreign expansion. Mr. Sergi also has been instrumental in championing the firm’s diversity efforts, which has led to numerous awards for Katten—including being one of only four law firms in the country recognized as one of the 100 Best Companies by Working Mother magazine, and being named one of MultiCultural Law magazine’s top firms for diversity.
Mr. Sergi has enjoyed a distinguished career with the firm, focusing his prior practice on counseling lenders and borrowers in all types of financing transactions, with a particular emphasis on lender representation in real estate loans and workouts. He has been named to the Crain’s list of “Who’s Who in Chicago Business” several times.
Mr. Sergi serves on the Goodman Theatre Board of Trustees. He also is a member of the Talent Development Committee of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) and the CEO Council at Chicago United.
Mr. Sergi received his undergraduate degree from Beloit College in 1968 and his Juris Doctor, with honors, from Northwestern University School of Law in 1974.
