Taking place on April 18–19, Katten is a sponsor of the UT Law CLE 35th Annual Health Law Conference. Partner and National Chair, Health Care Practice and Deputy General Counsel Kenya Woodruff, Health Care Partner Lisa Atlas Genecov and Health Care Senior Counsel Michelle "Missy" Apodaca serve on UT Law CLE's planning committee. This year's conference will also include several Katten attorneys as presenters.

On Thursday, April 18, from 8:30 a.m., Missy will moderate the panel "Significant Federal and State Policy Disruptors: Impacts on the Private Healthcare Marketplace." The panel will explore how hospitals and pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) are under increased scrutiny from policymakers in Austin and Washington, DC, for their perceived role in rising health care costs and lack of transparency, which could result in new legislation impacting the private health care marketplace. The panel will discuss current federal and state regulatory and legislative proposals related to the hospital and PBM industry sectors, including enhanced price transparency, government price controls, rebate limitations, and the elimination of site-neutral payments.

Health Care Partner Ramana Rameswaran will moderate the "Healthcare Transactions: How to Ensure Compliance and Successfully Complete the Deal!" panel at 2:15 p.m. The panel will explore the increasing complexity of modern health care transactions, which involve more parties and issues than other transactions. The panel will discuss real-world issues regarding transactions, addressing compliance concerns and pitfalls to watch for.

On Friday, April 19 at 11:45 a.m., Kenya will serve as a panelist for the "Hospital Operational Opportunities and Challenges" session. The panel discusses how hospitals are at the intersection of the nation's political, social and health policies, and must meet their core responsibilities as providers and employers while navigating that reality. This panel will explore the opportunities and challenges that hospitals face due to these current conditions.

Additionally, there will be other Katten attorneys in attendance, including Partner Ryan Meyer.
