The Internet puts a new twist on trademark and patent law. Trademarks misused by cyber- and typo-squatters and search engines, or in meta tags, can be enforced through common law, Lanham Act, and Anti-Cybersquatting Act claims. Patent issues will play a greater role in corporate restructurings as recognition of the value of intangible assets grows.
