March 15, 2011
This article, an annual review of environmental crime enforcement, analyzes the Gulf of Mexico oil spill and what it may mean for the criminal prosecution of violations of environmental laws, and questions whether the extensive resources being used in the criminal investigation of the spill may impede the government’s ability to investigate environmental crimes beyond the Gulf.
