Shaun Xin Gao is a Senior China Counsel at Katten’s Shanghai office and is fluent in both English and Chinese (Mandarin and Shanghai dialect). Working across the IT and telecoms, advertising and broadcasting, clean and renewable energy, education, new media, retailing and franchising, and traditional manufacturing sectors, Mr. Xin Gao specializes in fund formations, private equity/venture capital investment transactions and related mergers and acquisitions transactions.
Mr. Gao has extensive experience advising clients on private equity and venture capital investments, cross-boarder mergers and acquisitions, market entry strategies for foreign investors, corporate reorganizations and restructurings, and general legal compliance issues.
Mr. Gao holds a LL.B from East China University of Politics and Law in China and a LL.M from the University of Sheffield in the UK. He has been qualified as a PRC lawyer since 2005. Mr. Gao practiced for several years with a well-respected local firm and a U.S. firm’s Shanghai office and, immediately prior to joining Katten, served as a leading legal counsel at one of the largest Chinese private companies.
