Scott E. Lyons focuses his practice on the representation of senior secured and mezzanine lenders, as well as borrowers and equity sponsors, in connection with leveraged buyout transactions, cash flow and asset-based transactions, unitranche financings, health care financings, franchise financings, restructurings (including debtor-in-possession and exit financings), equity co-investments and sports team financings. Mr. Lyons’ institutional clients include GE Antares Capital Corporation, Ares Capital Corporation, Victory Park Capital Advisors, Golub Capital Corporation, BMO Harris, Bank of America, N.A., First American Bank, Fifth Third Bank, First Chicago Bancorp, Dymas Funding Company LLC, CapitalSource Finance LLC, Beecken Petty O'Keefe & Company, the Oakland Athletics, the Philadelphia Union (MLS expansion team), Frontenac Company, Midwest Mezzanine, Prism Mezzanine and Prairie Capital.
Previously, Mr. Lyons focused in the areas of private equity and mergers and acquisitions, emphasizing the representation of numerous private equity funds, particularly in the health services industry, as well as the representation of numerous technology start-up companies.
Mr. Lyons is active in various inner-city philanthropic organizations and previously served as a member of the board of directors and as treasurer of JCYS (Jewish Council for Youth Services), volunteered for the Midtown Center for Boys (where he previously served as a tutor/mentor for elementary school-aged boys), and participated in the firm’s “Adopt-a-School” program (where he previously served as a reader for elementary school-aged children and as a participant in the firm’s mock trial program at Philo Carpenter Elementary School).
Mr. Lyons received his Bachelor of Science degree in finance, with honors, and his Juris Doctor degree, cum laude, from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
