Sarah Rouse Quoted on 2012 Outlook in Life Sciences Law & Industry Report
January 13, 2012
Sarah Rouse, Ph.D., a patent attorney in the firm's Intellectual Property Practice, was interviewed for an article on the top life sciences issues for 2012 in Bloomberg BNA's
Life Sciences Law & Industry Report. Among other predictions for 2012, Dr. Rouse believes that the landscape for biosimilars will continue to take shape. "Because there are currently no biosimilars approved," Dr. Rouse says, "the FDA expects to expend significant resources upfront in evaluating research and protocols for biosimilar applications. FDA proposals in 2012 are expected to include those on generic names of biosimilars, clinical trial requirements and ability to rely upon foreign approvals, implementation of the interchangeability’ provision, and characterization of molecules.’’ Dr. Rouse also addresses the evolution of social media in the health care industry, challenges facing the FDA in 2012 and the impact of patent reform.
