Qualifications and Career Profile

Sam Mirkin has experience structuring and organizing domestic and offshore hedge funds and representing fund managers and investment advisers.

Mr. Mirkin has experience in negotiating and documenting derivatives transactions utilizing the ISDA documentation framework. Mr. Mirkin also has experience advising investment bank and hedge fund clients in the purchase and sale of vendor trade claims in bankruptcy proceedings relating to terminated ISDA and GMRA agreements with Lehman Brothers and its affiliates.

Mr. Mirkin also provides advice to securities broker-dealers and registered and unregistered investment advisers on a broad range of registration, regulatory, compliance and inspection/enforcement matters.

Mr. Mirkin has experience representing commercial banks, investment banks and hedge funds engaged in the purchase and sale of loans, claims, securities and other investments in domestic and international companies experiencing financial distress.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Mirkin was a Compliance Officer at JPMorgan Chase Bank, N.A., worked for six years as a financial advisor and for five years as a general practice attorney.

Education and Bar Admissions

Mr. Mirkin earned his Bachelor of Arts from Bucknell University in 1992, his J.D. from The Washington University School of Law in St. Louis in 1995 and his LL.M. in banking and financial law from Boston University Law School in 2006, where he received the Dennis K. Aronowitz Award given to the graduating student achieving the top grade point average. He is admitted to practice in New York and Massachusetts.
