Qualifications and Career Profile
Mr. Black concentrates his practice in the areas of corporate, transactional, financial services and employment law.
Mr. Black represents business entities throughout all phases of their evolution, from formation through dissolution. He counsels with regard to the negotiation and preparation of Operating Agreements, Stockholders’ Agreements and other agreements among business principals, as well as with respect to a wide variety of transactions between business entities and third parties, such as manufacturing/distribution arrangements, leases, vendor/purchaser agreements, licensing of technology and intellectual property, and agreements between service providers and users. He has extensive experience in all aspects of transactions involving the acquisition, sale or merger of business entities. Additionally, Mr. Black represents mortgage lenders and mortgage brokers with regard to the negotiation and structuring of their financing arrangements, and represents both borrowers and lenders in a wide variety of financing transactions.
Mr. Black also has extensive experience representing business entities with regard to a wide range of employment law issues, including the negotiation and preparation of employment, consulting, separation, noncompetition and confidentiality agreements, the development of policies and employee handbooks, and the resolution of disputes with current and former employees. He counsels employers with regard to all aspects of compliance with Title VII, the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act and various other federal and state laws.

Mr. Black is a member of the North Carolina Bar Association, the North Carolina State Bar, and the Mecklenburg County Bar Association.
Education
Mr. Black earned his undergraduate degree, with honors, (B.S., 1985) from the University of Tennessee and his law degree (J.D., 1988) from Vanderbilt University School of Law.
