In this article, Steven Eckhaus, a partner in the firm’s Financial Services Practice, discusses some of his most challenging and rewarding cases and offers some advice for young lawyers. Within his own field, he says, there is need for reform in the laws regulating compensation. “Too much emphasis is placed on limiting bonuses paid to Wall Street executives,” says Mr. Eckhaus. “We have seen that the market can claw back bonuses more effectively and ruthlessly than any statute. What is really needed are laws protecting the compensation paid to employees generally.”
