Highlights
Katten Named One of Top Litigation Firms in Illinois

Katten was listed as a “highly recommended” litigation firm in Illinois, and was nationally listed in the Securities Litigation and White Collar Crime categories in the 2010 edition of Benchmark: A Definitive Guide to America’s Leading Litigation Firms and Attorneys.

Litigation and Dispute Resolution

Katten’s Litigation and Dispute Resolution Practice has nearly 200 attorneys across the country dedicated to evaluating, fighting and resolving our clients’ most difficult problems. Our litigation track record and trial victories have earned us top recognition in Chambers USA, Benchmark: Litigation, Lawdragon 500, Martindale Hubbell and the Law360 Litigation Almanac.

However, it is our unfailing drive to understand fully our clients’ business and litigation objectives that sets our litigators apart. This understanding makes us better business partners in the long run, and better advocates for matters on the immediate horizon.

Members of our Litigation Practice regularly appear in federal and state courts across the nation, at the trial and appellate levels, before arbitration tribunals and administrative law judges, and in specialty courts. Our practice is composed of attorneys whose backgrounds are as varied as our clients—and the many jurisdictions where they find themselves. We are as comfortable in local courthouses in small towns as we are in large federal courthouses in major metropolitan areas, and we have the depth and experience to handle, and if necessary, to try, virtually any type of case.

Our litigators regularly try significant “bet the company” cases to verdict. Many of these large cases are accompanied by other risks, investigations, government inquiries and proceedings, and as a result we have become especially adept at handling parallel and complex proceedings. Our clients benefit from the experience of the many Katten attorneys who have held positions at the U.S. Department of Justice, the U.S. Attorneys Office, the White House, the Securities and Exchange Commission and other government agencies and prosecutors’ offices at both the state and federal levels across the country. We regularly act as national or regional counsel for many clients, coordinating closely with local and other outside counsel to bring the best possible conclusion to complex and multiple jurisdiction actions.

In addition to being a “go to” litigation and trial firm, we have substantial experience in alternative dispute resolution. Our attorneys have represented clients in thousands of mediations, arbitrations, neutral panels and other ADR proceedings, and we regularly implement litigation strategies for our clients that include potential ADR solutions. Put simply, we recognize that sometimes the best possible resolution is something short of a trial.

Our diverse litigation practice encompasses the following core areas:

  • Commercial Litigation
  • Consumer Class Action
  • Corporate Governance and Compliance
  • Electronic Discovery and Evidence
  • Entertainment & Media
  • Environmental
  • ERISA
  • Financial Services Litigation
  • Intellectual Property Litigation
  • Product, Premises and Tort Liability
  • Real Estate Litigation
  • Securities Litigation
  • White Collar Criminal and Civil Litigation and Compliance
