Partner Meryl Wiener Quoted in The Financial Times on SEC Revamp

April 25, 2010

Meryl Wiener, a partner in the firm’s Financial Services Practice, was quoted in an article in The Financial Times on increased activity at the Securities and Exchange Commission in the wake of the scandal involving Bernard Madoff’s Ponzi scheme. Ms. Wiener says, “The sense in the industry is that these specialized units will bring added scrutiny, which will make managers more mindful of their compliance obligations... With respect to the heightened scrutiny of inside information, expect managers to be more cautious with the marching orders—explicit or otherwise—they give to their analysts and other staff.” (“US regulator revamps enforcement role,” April 25, 2010)
