Partner Manotti Jenkins Quoted in Chicago Tribune on Mattel Victory
December 5, 2008
Manotti Jenkins, a partner in the firm's Intellectual Property Practice, was quoted in an article in the Chicago Tribune regarding a four-year legal battle involving the makers of Bratz and Barbie dolls. A federal judge ordered MGA Entertainment Inc. to stop making Bratz dolls several months after a jury awarded Mattel, maker of Barbie dolls, up to $100 million in damages for breach of contract and copyright infringement. The case is indicative of greater concern for intellectual property in this era of global business. “Companies view this as the protection of the economic value of ideas,” says Mr. Jenkins.
