Partner Kathleen Moriarty Quoted in Index Universe Article on ETF Management and the Drive to "Self-Index"

January 5, 2012

Kathleen Moriarty, a partner in the firm's Financial Services Practice, was quoted in an Index Universe article about the trend among ETF managers to "self-index" as a way to cut costs in an increasingly competitive market, despite the extensive regulatory reviews by the SEC involved in filing for permission to self-index. "In any such application to manage an index in-house," says Ms. Moriarty, "the SEC will need to be convinced that the index is being calculated free and clear of the ETF, and that the ETF manager doesn't know what the index provider is doing."
