The Internet makes it possible for consumers to receive an unlimited library of motion pictures, television programs or musical recordings from decades ago. But can this work be legally distributed via the Internet or any other technology format? While it varies from one case to the next, the decision typically boils down to the original agreement. The majority of courts have decided that if the technology in question didn’t exist at the time, the artist owns the distribution rights.
