Nancy J. Rich represents clients in complex matters under environmental and common law including Superfund, the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act, and environmental toxic torts.

Ms. Rich developed her litigation skills as an Assistant Illinois Attorney General in the Environmental Control Division, where she served as a member of the Attorney General’s Toxic Waste Strike Force and litigated environmental issues in the federal and state trial courts and before the Illinois Pollution Control Board. She represented the State in negotiating the first multi-party cleanup of a hazardous waste site under Illinois' then newly-enacted state Superfund law.

Ms. Rich has been listed in Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business (2008–2011); Who’s Who in American Law as a practitioner in environmental, administrative and public utility law; and Illinois Super Lawyers in the field of environmental litigation (2006–2009).

Ms. Rich devotes a significant portion of her practice to counseling corporate, utility, local government and financial institution clients in major transactional matters. Highlights include addressing oil and gas issues on behalf of the acquirers of nearly one million acres of timberlands, and developing and overseeing a multi-layered liability and allocation plan which allowed a Firm client to successfully divest an environmentally challenged business. Ms. Rich has authored numerous publications including a comparative analysis of state Superfund laws, and a law journal article addressing the Clean Air Act.

Ms. Rich received both an Honors undergraduate degree and her J.D. from Loyola University Chicago. She is admitted to practice law in the State of Illinois and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit and the District of Columbia, and the U.S. District Court for the Central District of Illinois and Northern District of Illinois including the Trial Bar.
