Qualifications and Career Profile
Michael Roth has more than 40 years of experience in all aspects of corporate law, ranging from the negotiation of transactions and the drafting of complex agreements for the sale or divestiture of businesses, to mergers, acquisitions, leveraged buy-outs, tender offers, public offerings, private placements and corporate restructurings. He has represented companies in multiple industries, including magazine publishing, apparel manufacturing and information technology.
Mr. Roth also counsels clients in the wine and spirits industry on sophisticated business issues, including licensing, tied house, cross-ownership and other concerns.
Associations and Committees
A former Chairman of the New York State Liquor Authority, Mr. Roth has served as a member of the President’s Task Force on International Private Enterprise. In 1978, he was the Republican Party’s candidate for New York State Attorney General.
Education
Mr. Roth earned his undergraduate degree from Yale University (B.A., 1953) and received his law degree from Columbia Law School, (LLB, 1956) where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar. Mr. Roth also holds a Masters degree in International Affairs from Columbia University School of International Affairs (1964).
