Michael Rosensaft focuses his litigation practice on representing individuals and businesses in white collar criminal matters, regulatory enforcement matters, corporate internal investigations, insurance and health care fraud, and complex civil litigation.

Prior to joining Katten, Mr. Rosensaft served as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York. In that capacity, Mr. Rosensaft oversaw the investigation and prosecution of numerous criminal cases involving terrorism, international money laundering, export violations, bribery of foreign officials, narcotics trafficking, RICO/organized crime, murder, bank fraud, wire fraud, health care fraud and computer crimes. Mr. Rosensaft is an experienced trial attorney and appellate advocate and was responsible for all aspects of litigation as a federal prosecutor—from pre-indictment investigation and grand jury practice through discovery, motion practice, trial and appeal. Throughout his tenure as an Assistant United States Attorney, Mr. Rosensaft worked closely with federal investigative and administrative agencies including the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Internal Revenue Service, the Office of Foreign Assets Control and the State Department. He also coordinated federal prosecutions with law enforcement and government officials in other countries, including working with United Nations and Guatemalan prosecutors in the investigation and indictment of the former president of Guatemala, Alfonso Portillo, for money laundering.

Mr. Rosensaft previously practiced with Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP. Prior to that he served as law clerk to the Honorable Jane R. Roth of the US Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.

Mr. Rosensaft received his BA from Johns Hopkins University and his JD from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. During law school, he served as articles editor for the University of Pennsylvania Journal of Constitutional Law and received the Fred G. Leebron Memorial Prize for the best paper in the field of constitutional law. He is admitted to practice in New York.
