Megan Hardiman’s practice focuses on healthcare regulatory and transactional matters.
Ms. Hardiman counsels clients on a broad range of healthcare regulatory matters, including HIPAA compliance, Stark Law and Anti-Kickback Statute compliance, state and fee-splitting and corporate practice of medicine prohibitions. She also frequently advises clients on tax-exemption issues and corporate governance matters.
Her transactional experience includes sales, acquisitions and affiliations involving a wide variety of healthcare industry clients, such as hospitals and health systems, home infusion companies, senior housing providers, urgent care centers, and medical colleges. She has represented tax-exempt health systems in structuring complex joint operating agreements and affiliations with unrelated health systems, and has obtained favorable rulings from the Internal Revenue Services on the consequences of these and other transactions among tax-exempt organizations.
Ms. Hardiman received her Bachelor of Science degree in journalism, with high honors, from the University of Illinois in 1990 and her Juris Doctor degree, cum laude, from the University of Illinois College of Law at Urbana-Champaign in 1993. She is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association and the American, Illinois and Chicago bar associations. Ms. Hardiman has written articles for the American Health Lawyers Association and other industry publications. She serves as the Women’s Leadership Forum’s Liaison to the Simpson Academy, Chicago’s only public school for pregnant and parenting teens.
