Qualifications and Career Profile
Maurice H. Goetz practiced labor law for over 40 years. During this period of time, he has handled a very broad range of labor matters, including acting as chief negotiator in collective bargaining for a variety of industries, trade associations, multi-employer groups and individual companies.
Mr. Goetz has negotiated several unique collective bargaining agreements with novel and unusual terms, including an agreement which avoided a strike and is believed to be the first contingent collective bargaining agreement negotiated in the United States. The contingency was that the new labor agreement signed by all parties would not become effective unless and until a rate increase of a certain minimum percentage was granted by the government agency which controlled the rates which could be charged customers in that transportation industry. That agreement avoided a strike which would have been destructive for all parties, and resulted in achieving the necessary rate increase to confirm the collective bargaining agreement and restore the industry to a profitable basis.
