Matthew Fischer concentrates his practice in domestic and foreign intellectual property counseling and litigation matters, including trademarks, copyrights, social media, software, information technology, online privacy concerns related to the protection of personal and business data, and the online protection of children. Mr. Fischer has been an invited speaker of the Washington Metropolitan Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel (WMACCA) addressing challenges facing businesses implementing an effective social media policy.

Mr. Fischer also represents low-income veterans during proceedings before the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs as part of the firm’s pro bono efforts. He co-authored a legal manual addressing homeless veterans issues, and is a 2010 winner of Katten's Annual Pro Bono Service Award.

Mr. Fischer earned a Bachelor of Arts, summa cum laude, in political science and economics from Loyola College in Maryland and a Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Georgetown University Law Center, with a certificate in World Trade Organization studies from the International Institute of Economic Law. He served as the Business and Development Editor of the Georgetown Journal of International Law. He is currently pursuing a Master of Laws with a certificate in National Security Law from Georgetown University Law Center. Mr. Fischer is admitted to practice in Maryland and the District of Columbia.

Mr. Fischer serves on the Section Council of the Military Law Committee of the Maryland State Bar Association. He is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association, the District of Columbia Bar Association and the American Bar Association.
