Mary Gardner Burrelle is the Director of Attorney Development and Counsel at Katten. Based in the Chicago office, Ms. Gardner Burrelle works with attorneys in all practice areas across all offices to develop and implement strategies for the cultivation and growth of the firm's internal talent. These strategies focus on attorney training, performance management, integration, career planning, mentoring, coaching and retention.
Prior to joining Katten, Ms. Gardner Burrelle was a partner and professional development manager at McDermott Will & Emery LLP in Chicago. Before entering private practice, she worked for the Securities and Exchange Commission in Washington, D.C., as senior counsel in the Division of Enforcement and was detailed to the Eastern District of Virginia as a Special Assistant United States Attorney.
Ms. Gardner Burrelle earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Hendrix College in 1995 and a Juris Doctor from Temple University School of Law in 1998, where she was executive editor of the Temple Political & Civil Rights Law Review. Ms. Gardner Burrelle is currently working to obtain her Master of Science in Learning and Organizational Change from Northwestern University. She is admitted to practice in Illinois and the District of Columbia.
