Leah Silverman specializes in representing hedge funds and commercial banks in the purchase and sale of bank loans, trade claims and other investments in domestic and international companies experiencing financial distress.
Recently, Ms. Silverman has provided advice to clients investing in the following credits: Ford, Tribune, Claire’s Stores, Six Flags, W.R. Grace and Reader’s Digest.
Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Silverman was a Vice President at Avenue Capital Group. While at Avenue, she sourced trade claims and sold pre-petition and post-petition put option contracts on companies experiencing financial distress.
Education and Bar Admissions
Ms. Silverman earned her Bachelor of Science from University of Maryland at College Park in 1992 and her Juris Doctor from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in 1998. She is admitted to practice in New York.
